What the transcript looks like
This is the transcript of the demo video behind our “Try an example” button, a fictional cleaning gadget ad. Each line has its start and end time. On your own video you also get copy buttons (plain or with timestamps) and a .txt download.

More than the words
Most TikTok transcript tools stop at the text. Ours comes out of a full breakdown of the video, so the transcript sits next to the parts that explain why the video worked: the hook in the first seconds, the beat-by-beat structure, the shot list and the pacing.
That matters when you are studying a video rather than quoting it. A line like “Then I got this” means little on its own. Next to the shot list you can see that it lands on the product reveal, six seconds in, right after the problem has been set up.
- Every spoken line with its start and end time
- Copy as plain text, or with timestamps like [0:04] at the start of each line
- Download the timestamped version as a .txt file
- On-screen text, listed separately in the hook and the shot list
- The hook, beat structure, shots and pacing of the same video
Why people transcribe TikToks
Usually to write their own version. You find a video in your niche that did far better than the account's other posts, and you want to know exactly what was said, and in what order, before you script yours.
Other reasons come up too: pulling a quote for a caption or a blog post, checking what a competitor says about their product, writing subtitles for a repost of your own video, or keeping a swipe file of openings that worked.
One thing we noticed breaking down short product videos: several of the ones that did well had no voiceover at all, just the product working, some on-screen text and the original sound. So an empty transcript is a finding too. The report still shows the structure and every piece of on-screen text.
What it can and can't transcribe
It works on public TikTok videos and YouTube Shorts up to three minutes long. Private, friends-only and age-restricted videos can't be read, and neither can livestreams or photo slideshows.
The transcript covers speech. Song lyrics and background chatter may be left out or shortened. Text that appears on screen is listed separately, because in videos made for sound-off viewing it often carries the message.
We don't keep the video file. We keep the breakdown, the link to the original post and, for some videos, a few small keyframe thumbnails. If the same link was analyzed in the last 24 hours, you get that result straight away.
How to transcribe a TikTok
- 01
Copy the link
In the TikTok app, tap Share, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar. Short vm.tiktok.com links work.
- 02
Paste it above
Paste the link and press Break it down. Keep the tab open while the breakdown runs; a progress list shows each step.
- 03
Copy or download
The transcript appears right under the video summary. Copy it plain or with timestamps, or download it as a .txt file.
TikTok transcript questions
Is this TikTok transcript generator free?
Yes. You can run a few breakdowns a day without an account, and 5 a day on the free plan once you sign up. Every breakdown includes the full transcript.
Does it work with YouTube Shorts?
Yes, paste a YouTube Shorts link the same way. Long YouTube videos are not supported: the tool is built for videos up to three minutes.
Can I get the transcript with timestamps?
Yes. Every line shows its start and end time on the page, and “Copy with timestamps” puts each line on its own row with its start time, like [0:04]. The .txt download uses the same format.
What if the video has no talking?
You'll see “No speech detected in this video”. The rest of the report still works: on-screen text, hook, shots and beat structure, which is usually what makes a no-voiceover video work.
Can I turn the transcript into my own script?
Yes. Sign in and choose Remix this video. We write a script for your product on the same structure, with three hook options, free up to 5 scripts a day on the free plan.
Do you save the video?
No. We keep the breakdown and a link to the original post, not the video file.
