What motion control is
“Motion control” is the name video models such as Kling's use for a specific job: transfer the movement from a reference video onto a character in a still image. The reference decides the moves, the timing and the camera; the image decides who is moving. It is different from text-to-video, where you describe a scene and the model invents the motion.
That makes it a good fit for dance and motion trends, where the moves are the format. If a routine is spreading, a motion video lets your mascot, your illustrated character or your own photo take part without filming the routine yourself.
Why motion videos spread
The dance videos we broke down while planning this feature had a lot in common: one continuous shot with no cuts, no voiceover, and a hook carried by the movement itself in the first two or three seconds. In the one we used to design our motion showcase template, the moves hit the beat of the song.
Because the format is carried by the movement and not by the words, it travels across languages and niches. A cleaning brand's mascot and a pet account can use the same trend.
How it fits with the rest of the app
Motion video is the third way to remix a video you broke down, next to a free script and a template video. It suits breakdowns of dance and motion videos, where there is little to script and the movement is the whole format.
Motion clips can be wrapped in our motion showcase template: a hook title, words timed to the beat, and a call to action for your account or product at the end. Pricing is on the pricing page: motion clips are charged in credits per clip length, and credits for failed videos are refunded.
What motion video will and won't accept
- Reference clips must be ones you own or from our licensed motion library. You can't paste a link to someone else's video to copy their dance.
- The character image must be one you have the rights to use: your own photo, your mascot or artwork you own.
- No public figures and no minors, in the reference or the image.
- Output has no original audio. Add licensed music or a voiceover, and turn on the AI-generated content label when you post.
- Images and clips are processed by third-party video model providers, as described in our privacy policy.
How it works
- 01
Choose the motion
Upload a short reference clip you own, or pick a move from our licensed library.
- 02
Add your character
Upload a clear, full-body image of the character you have the rights to use.
- 03
Generate and wrap it
Pick the clip length, generate, then add a hook title and a call to action with the motion showcase template.
Motion video questions
When can I use motion video?
It isn't available yet and we haven't set a date. Signed-up users will see it in the app when it opens. Until then, a breakdown of a dance or motion video suggests the closest template instead.
Is this the same as Kling motion control?
It is the same kind of model: a reference video drives a character image. We run it through third-party model providers, with our own rules on what you can upload.
Can I use a TikTok dance as the reference?
No. Using someone else's video to copy their dance isn't allowed. Use a clip you filmed yourself or one from our licensed motion library.
Can I use a photo of a celebrity or a child?
No. Public figures and minors are not allowed, in the reference clip or in the character image.
Does the video keep the song?
No. The output has no original audio. Add music you have a license for, or a voiceover, before posting.
